Is the S10 frame the same as the metric car frame? Will they interchange? Will a Cutlas body fit on the PU frame?
Also does anyone know if the 2.8 S10 bellhousing will bolt up to the 3.8 out of a Monte? The 2.8 looks to be a 60 degree block and the 3.8 looks like it's a 90 degree block. The 2.8 bellhousing looks small to me.

Not to mention you would be sitting about 16" off the ground. The frame does not drop in the center like a car frame does

This project hasn't gone as planned. The S10 was purchased with a bad 2.8 engine. We had stripped out a metric monte that had a 3.8. The plan was to put the 3.8 in the S10, but am running into all kind of problems. We thought it would be an easy swap if the frames were the same, but have found that the S10 manual tranny won't bolt up to the 3.8. The 3.8 had an automatic that will fit in the S10, but the S10 radiator has no cooler for the trans in the radiator. Also the radiator hose connections are opposite for the two engines as well as the fuel pump etc. The Monte radiator doesnt fit in the S10. This was planned to be a cheap fix to get an economical pickup back on the road with available parts, but has turned into a nightmare. Thanks for the replies about the frame. Ed

get a different radiator and a tranny cooler for under 200 bucks you could make that swap with the auto tranny. i was going to put a 305 in a s-10 i got for free but it was so rested i would have had to replace the entire under carrage bolt ons so i pulled the front end parts and rear gear and crushed it
