Do your heads have mounting holes? are you running a long or a short water pump? If you are running a long water pump AND have mounting holes in your heads, you can use factory brackets. If not, welcome to the wonderful world of fabrication.

Let me run you through my alt. set-up. Two factory "L" shaped alt. brackets mounted to the water pump. The one directly on the water pump points to the right side of the car and the hole on the end lines up with a bolt hole in the head. Run the long alt. bolt through the alt. and spacer here. The second "L" bracket mounts on top of the first and points down. A long arm with the long adjustment slot mounts to the end off this bracket. I had to cut a notch and give the arm a bigger angle to make it work. This set-up gives you a low slung alt. I prefer this because it allows for more belt contact on the water pump pulley, thus less slipping and fewer thrown belts. Infact, I've never thrown one with this set-up.

how ever you dicide to go about your brackets, make sure all pullies and belts are lined up and brackets hold everything solid. slinging your belts off in a race situation is major over heating probs that not a lot of motors will survive even once.

I'm having some problems with my alternator brackets as well. I just switched over to a short water pump set up and I have to fabricate something up. Any chance that some of you guys could post some pics of your setups?
