Do a quick searck for "wiring" in the purestock division and look for the one with the date of April 20, 2003. This will help you out.

Next time you take anything apart here is 2 methods that I used and still use on other vehicles that I work on.

Fist take some pics from different angles before dismantling. And as you take off peices, because there are some things you cannot see til removed.

Second, take model paint and color code wire connections. paint same color on both ends of connections..when reassembling just put colors back together.

Hope this helps, DM

run a 10ga. wire from + side of batt. to push button,run another 10ga. from other side of button to soln. on starter,now use jumper wire from hot side of push button to one side of switch,run other side of switch to dist. this will get you started

ok, ive got to get this thing wired tonight and completely spaced out my post. Im looking at the first diagram and i want to make sure i undertsand everything clearly. Ive got my battery mounted behind my seat. Can i ground the battery to my cage and the my block to my front hoop of the cage? from the battery I need a positive wire ran to the starter and from the battery to the push button then the starter on the other side of the push buttom ive got a hot wire running to the switch? Ive got one of them compact starters with the two posts and the connector. the one post is used from the from the solinoid to the starter and the other is for my power wire and the connector is used for my push button, correct? Ok, now for the toggle switch. On one side ive got the orange wire for the ditributor and on the other ive got the hot wire. Do i need to run another wire from the either side to the starter or battery? also on what side does the power for my guages go on?

Also, I need to wire my tach;

black-ground
red- power
green-distribor?

Lastly, ive got a one wire racing alt. from speedway. where do i run the lead off this?

anythign im missing let me know. Im a rookie and really have no mechanical training im just trying to have fun by learning hands on!

Also, how do i go about getting this thing running? Is there any plug wire diagrams out their showing which wire goes where from the distibutor? Then how do I get the motor FDC and where do i go from there. Ive got a friend im hoping can come over otherwise im going to struggle it out myself. Ive only got one of them cheaper timing lights is that going to be good enough?

You stated "also on what side does the power for my guages go on?" all you need is a wire that is positive running to the gauges and since your going to ground the battery to the chassis all you need to do is ground the gauges to the roll cage. Now on starting the dang things and the plug wire deal. Do you know what top dead center (TDC) is. If not. your gonna have to pull the distribitor out of the motor and set the #1 pistion (Drivers side front plug is #1) Take the plug out of the head and stick your finger up to the hole to block it off. Have your buddy bump the starter over until you start to feel the compression build in the cylinder. Keep on bumping it over until the mark on the harmonic balancer lines up with the TDC make on the timing tab. Now your #1 plug is at TDC. Now take the distribiutor and look down in the hole where it goes int he motor and you will see the oil pump shaft. It has a slot machined in it. Take a long screw driver and stick down int he hole and rotate the shaft so that the slot is pointed towards the #1 plug. Now take the distrbitor and slde it down in the hole with the rotor button pointed towards the #3 cylinder (2nd one from the front on the drivers side) the distrbitor should just about slide in place. You will have to wiggle it alittle to get it to go but it will. DO NOT FORCE IT DOWN. Once you get the distribitor in the motor, the rotor rotates clockwise. Look on the intake and the firing numbers are cast into it. Take a marker and mark a line on the side of the distribitor where the tip of the rotor is facing. Stick the cap on and where ever you drew the line on the distribitor where ever the cap is that is where the #1 plug wire needs to go. Then start placing the plug wires in a clockwise direction one right after the other in the order that is cast on the intake (firing order). A chey motor is set up 1,3, 5, 7 on the drivers side starting with the front and 2, 4, 6, 8 on the passenger side starting in the front. I hope this helps. And yes the green wire goes to the tac post on the distribitor.

Just run your alt. wire back down to your big wire on starter
