I've been doing a search, and I can't find the info I need. If you advance the timing, does that help low end or top end torque?

Advancing the timing helps everywhere. Advancing the cam is a different story. Which i think thats what you mean. You want the timing advanced.

I think you are taling about advancing or retarding the camshaft when its installed.

When you advance or retard the cam you are moving the power band up or down a few hundred rpm. If you advance the cam you will get more bottom end and if you retard the cam you will get more top end. Hope this helps.

advancing timing will help most noticeabley on top end where you need it . Careful don't go to far. if you are using your vaccume advance or your centifical advace I wouldn't go past 20 everything solid 35 or 36
