buddy broke his axle between mid turn and rolled the montey 1.5 times landing on top. The roll cage we built never even tweaked. Busy pounding out sheet metal straitening out frame by back bumper changing lower a arm on rhs replacing with hardened axles this time. crashed wed plan an racing this sunday. Just goes to show the extra time and money spent on the cage will pay off in the long run.

Amen! Good cages are well worth the time and money. Had a buddy roll one last year while his whole family was in from out of state watching. Luckily we were able to sit around afterwards and joke about him "showing off" with a roll over.

Good luck SUNDAY, Sunday, sunday.......

I rolled one 5 times! At least that's what everyone said. I was in a car we had bought from a guy across town. I don't know who built the cage but it never moved. Tore the body all to h***. I've got pics if I can get the scanner to work right. But I would sure like to shake his hand! It was my mom and dad's first time at the track with me driving. There were only 2 laps left in the feature too. I was racing a guy I should have let pass and he got mad and pushed me off turn 3. We don't have a guard rail and it drops off pretty quick into an open field. I had to go back the next day tofind one of the rear springs.

If your rules allow you might want to consider an axle truss. We installed one on my car for this year. I've heard the tremendous flex of the housing has serious adverse effects on axles = breakage.

if you use a gm 7.5 rear axle i have an aluminmu cover that reduces carrier flex (common axle breaker) this one is new and still in the box. i bought it as a back-up but rules now let us use a ford 9" so i have no more use for it

we got the montey going again last night with the hardened axles. Turns out the guy that put the 12 bolt together for us didn't tell us that the axles had badly worn axles where bearings rode and put axles saver bearings wich don't leave enough room for the c clips to fit onto the axles with a mini spool w/o machining some of the axle surface off where it flanges out. called him to ask why and seems he is out of business. the car did preety good seems our pure stock class doesn't understand what stock is but demon carbs, cams that won't idle and 10" wide wheels and tires are not what I considered to be stock.
