Here is a simple one. I may be getting anal here but I was wondering if you guys leave the shock absorbers on the bumpers or mount the bumper directly to the frame? (stock bumper on a 80 regal) We can`t run front cowlings so with the absorbers the bumber sticks out quick a bit. Thanks

i take the shocks out weld a piece of 1/8th -1/4 inch plate to the frame and the weld a short piece of 2x3 tube onto the plate, flat side of the tube.mount the bumper mounts, i use pipe, to the tube, the tube will collapse giving a little bit, it can usually be restraightened or grind the welds off the plate and replaced.i also run two short lengths 6-8 inches off the backside of the plate running inside the frame itself to help stiffen the horns at the ends, 1 piece has to be shorter than the other one to fit.it takes a factory designed crush zone out though.i tried it for the first time 2 1/2 seasons ago and have not bent a horn yet, bent a few bumpers and mounts but never the horns.

We left shock absorbers on bumber, just welded them up solid.Makes it real stout, bumber was folded pretty good at end of last season but no damange to frame horns.

We drill into the shock abs. to drain the oil out of them, callaps them and then weld them up,brings the bumper in and stengthens the system all in one.

After some thought yesterday I realized that it would probably be a good idea to leave the absorbers on (to save the frame). I think I will cut and drain them, then weld them back up shorter. Thanks alot guys!!

weld a piece of chain from the frame and bolt it to bumper frame if it gets hit hard some times it pop out and drag the ground and here comes the yellow the chain will keep it from coming all the way out of the socket in bombers the front horns are the weak link

I mount mine almost the same as BK19 and I use Camaro bumpers because they are lighter weight being made of aluminum. Eddie
