is it leakin or squealin ?
get a good grip on the fan and give it a firm jiggle if it moves or clicks/clanks replace it (basicly you are checkin a bearing)

No leaks or noises - but last year my motor ran hot - and eventually ruined the motor - so now I have a new motor, but wondering if I can run the same water pump, or should play it safe and buy a new one.

If you have to question it I would replace it no more then one costs. It's alot cheaper then a motor.
