I have a piece of 1 x 2 rectangle tubing that runs the length of my door and a little further on each side, then I welded 2 pieces of round tubing to the cage and took 2 pieces that slip inside the ones on the cage and welded those to the bar. Slip it on drill some holes for bolts and your done. They easily come off for straighting.

I mount mine the same as 320 did, although I have also run them on the inside of the car the from the the inside of the front fender to the rear tire to make them hidden. Eddie

I also use 1x2 tubing, but I bolt it right to the body. It starts about 6 inches behind the wheel opening in front, and ends about 6 inches behind it. I dont mount it to the cage AT ALL. weld A piece of angle iron in the door jams (where the hinges and latch used to be, center it) and have a piece of round tubing out to another piece of angle iron. Drill and bolt to that. If you bend stuff you want it to be your sheet metal, not your roll cage tubing. Mine held up just find, and they got A LOT of use. Use good flat head grade 8 bolts and washers where the bolt connects to the fender and quarter panel so it doesnt tear through. The front fender and quarter panel gets nothing other then then bolts though them with big washers.

The purpose of MY rub rails is to keep from getting donuts on the paint. Only works if they're on the outside of the door.

Very first race last year, and most of the right side got the donut treatment, and took off numbers, sponsor names, ect. I am putting rails on this year. Cheaper than new lettering!

I run a triangle from frame rail up and out to body at rail height and back to cage at dash bar height out of 1" tubing. that way it does not bend cage when you get whacked. Rules say one 1x2" bar outside door. So i run another 2x2" bar inside door and bolt through everything to mount. Very strong

Never thought of that. Sounds like worth investigating.
