so when you put it in drive does it stay in drive or will removing the detent keep it from shifting down when you are on the throttle?...I dont want it to be shifting up and down in gears .....thanks for replying

i had a 200 not a 350 but i would assume they work the same, i just unhooked the detent and cut it close to the housing i also unhooked the module. it will not downshift unless you come to a stop, i used to run 2nd gear and the only way it would go back into first is if we were under red or yellow and stopped then it would restart in 1st.i used to manually shift it anyways so it was no biggie, i ran it in drive at a big track 5/8 mile once and ran it the same way, i

you will have to keep the vacum line on the modulure valve so it will stay in high, also alot of stock autos will not shift into drive without vacum. on the detent cable just take bolt cutters, and cut it off right after the plastic plug out of the trans. that way you wont have the cable in the way, or have to worry about any leaks..

not to **** in on the thread....

I have a turbo 350 in my car, with the detent unhooked, and modulator in place but no vaccuum to it. I cant get it to shift into second even, why? If I put the shifter into second, it stays in low, but when I let off the gas, it just free wheels...

its just a junk yard tranny. I havent ever done anything too it other then pull the detent off. I took it out on the road actually and tried to get it to go into second gear. And I've tried it on the track when I was P O'ed and the track was wet... I just didnt feel like lifting and needed MORE wheel spin, but There is nothing there.

I ran a t350 for 6 years now. Get a full manual valve body put it in and it want shift up or down unless you shift it yourself. This how mine is and been for years.

sounds like your valve body is stuck prob from sitting in salvage (water or just dirt from turned over tranny) try this before pulling it apart sitting still run the gear selector from park to low 1 with very slight throttle several time repeatedly and see if it breaks loose. If this don't work you can pull your pan and mannually try moving each piston and spray it down good every hole you can hit.

get a b&m shift pack that will let you convert it to a full manual trans
they are usually less than 30 dollars
