One of the best ways to find out what makes the cars different is to look at some race track web sites. Read there rules and look at some pics. Then come back and ask what you may not understand about the difference in the classes. Hope that gives u a place to start.

You will have to find someone in your area, really someone that races at your local track. Street stock here is an all stock suspension and body, all stock steel engine, stock exhaust manifolds, stock 2bbl intake and stock 2bbl carb, 10 inch racing tires. Right up the road street stock is an all aftermarket body, alot of suspension mods, aluminum 4bbl intake and carb, headers, and 8 inch racing tires. Just to give an example of 2 classes that are both called Street Stock but are only separated by about 60 miles...

Our Streetstocks up here in ontario canada can have a aluminum intake and a 4412 with 8" Hoosiers.

I have noticed that rules are different everywhere. the rules that our hobbies have are car and suspension must be stock parts and the only rules for the engines are iron 2 brl intake, steel heads, cast exhaust, and 4412 carb

Good luck Izaga!!! After a year, come back on here and tell us what you've learned. My opinion to the differences between classes is really nothing more than money and the desire to go faster than the other guy (or girl).

To add to what 17j said, 50 miles north of the bommers they're called sportsman. 50 miles west of them, the sportsman are more like the late models that run back with the econo stocks.
