Get a set of 4:11's and run the tranny in second gear. Should see 6400-6500 RPM with a tire roll out of 84 or 85".

Ive been told you gearing is figured on the 'final' gear (tranny gearX rear gear)They say 1/4 mile track we run should be around 6.20.....does anybody have run downs of 'final' ratio for diffrent size tracks?

Last year I ran a 350, 040 over with a 488 lift cam, 719 final drive from a Ford 8" 4.11, and a Chevy 3 speed 175 2nd gear trany on a 1/4 mile track. Turned 64-6500.4th in points.

3.73 in 2nd with a 82 roll gives us about 6200rpm on a 3/8 track. When we got this new motor we had to take gear out of it.we were running 4.10 before but our driver had to lift to avoid over revving it long before the corners.
If you are going to run in 1st try a 2.41 or a 2.56 with about a 84 roll or a 2.73 with about a 88-90 roll.Like racer17j says everybodys different.
