Has anybody used an electric water pump drive kit on that dirt race car? Does the electric motor turn fast enough for proper cooling or is this just a setup for drag racing?

it is used primarily in Drag Racing to cool the motor in between rounds (since drags only run for a few seconds they can do with a limited cooling supply block crete small radiators to save weight no fan assembly) it would not work for a circle track application nor be feasable unless your running in the winter LOL :-)

but at least you thinking about other racing that you could take information from and adapt it to your use

drive hard or drive home

I tried an electric fan a couple years ago on a pure stock, bad idea, it ran like a striped a$$ ape, but got very hot. I think youd have the same prob with an electric driven water pump. my 2 cents.

i think if you got a high end pump you would be okay, there are some for drag racing actually most are but your off road trucks the professional ones use them. they have the radiators in the back and some of them use electric pumps, there was also a circle track truck deal out in cali a few years ago that used the same set up. electric fans will work you just got to find the right one the cheapy $45 dollar ones from advance won't work. you either need to get one like the be cool brand that is like 200+ dollars or find one in the junkyard off a latemodel 454 suburban or mid 90's z28 somthin with some pull to it.maybe a late model hurse or limo.
