I run a 1979 monte 2 dr. It is stock all the way. I am ditching the 305 taht came in it for a 350 four bolt main. I have a set of 305 HO heads that have been mildly ported and polished. I plan to run 30 over flattops. I have a factory aluminum four barrel intake with a rebuilt 795 quadrajet. We have to run stock exhaust manifolds and next year we will probably have to run mufflers too. It has the stock TH350 tranny and stock rearend. I don't know the exact gear ratio but it is pretty high speeded. I could only get 3400 rpm on the straights in low gear. I would like to know what cam would be a good choice and what gear ratio I need to run. Also if I change to a bigger cam, will I need to get a stall converter and if so what stall rpm?

I race on a 3/8 mile medium banked oval. My rear tire sizes are LR 225/60/15 and RR 235/60/15. We are supposed to be totally stock, but nobody is and they took out the protest rules. They say that nest season we might have to run mufflers too. The rules state that it has to be a hydaulic cam and pull 17" of vacuum at 1000 rpm.
