Hey outlawstock17 that is some very interesting information. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get it? Thanks.

....from an internet site. i can't remember where, it's been a while, but the guy done some bench testing and posted the numbers.

also, there are characteristics other than flow numbers to consider. the 289 head has the smallest combustion chamber, but big valves are shrouded by the small chamber. the '69 351W heads have the next smallest combustion chamber, bigger valves and are the best compromise between compression and flow plus if you grind the thermactor boss out of the exhaust port, they're even better.

A side note, the GT40p has a different exhaust to spark plug location. Typical 'old school' headers may not give enough room for plugs. Just something to think about.

Headers will definately be an issue. Wound up using some off of a Ford truck but we got them used and never knew what year model. We also could not find any manifolds that would work either.

Here is the internet site that outlawstock17 got the information from. Hope it helps some people out. Also, with the gt40p heads, headers or stock exhaust manifolds don't fit either. They do make a set of shorty headers just for the 40p heads that I know works on the fox body ford cars. Just do a search for them. I belive I bought mine form either summit or jegs.

They make a cast iron manifold for the p heads. They are a strange looking creation.

a 351c intake WILL NOT bolt onto a 351w block with 351c heads. the deck height is different and there is no water provision on a 351c intake. you have to use a specialty aftermarket intake and modify the 351c heads to do this conversion. you're off on the 351c valve sizes too...

351c 2v - 2.04"/1.65"
351c 4v - 2.19"/1.71"

The explorer stock manifolds will fit a fox body chassis with some custome exhaust work.
