Would the robbing of power be considerably less if a turbo was run in high instead of low?Example 2.52x2.41(rear gear)=6.07 in 1st.Or be better run one to one with 6.00 rear gear.Powerglide not an option at this point in time. thanks

Its always better to run in high gear (1 to 1) and have the right gear in the rear end.

i run a 350 turbo. at the beginning of this year i ran stock rear with 241 in first. about a month after the season started i changed to a nine inch ford with 650's and ran in high. of course with the lower gear it pulls better, but i can't tell the difference in the trans. i was told it was better to run high gear. with running high gear you will have to hook up your kick down cable or zip tie it to a roll bar. if you use the roll bar you will have to work with the tension of it to get it to shift like you want it. without it hooked up or just laying there it with shift through the gears real fast. pull it all the way out and it will rev to 4500 rpm before it shifts into 2nd and the same with 3rd. you will also have to run a vacum line from carb to modulater valve. or it will shift at high rpms also. but with the nine inch its easier to get gears and to change them. hope this helps.

we used to run in 1st with a 2.41 with about an 84 inch roll. Then we switched to 2nd with a 4.10 with a 82 inch roll, now we run in 2nd with a 3.73 and 82 inch roll.Revs around 6200,3/8 high banked track.

There should be a significant power loss no. So you can do whatever is easier. But it also depends how you look at it. In the long run a 6.00 might be easier(assuming its a nine inch) with the ease of switching gears. But with the stock metric the stock gear is easier.
