They have a 114 inch wheel base and depending on how much you gut it and the weight limit for your track (and if it is enforced) you may be as much as 200-300 pounds heavier than the other cars. Depending on how much mud was on it ours came in anywhere from 3450 to 3600 pounds. Our weight limit was 3400 pounds.

we have no weight limit.....BUT we can only remove (from the body) what can be UNBOLTED, no cutting or torching stuff off.....

My metric weighs 3160 with me in long as I am somewhat close to that.

do you think a 4 door could gut out lighter then a 2 door, or wouldnt there be enough difference to matter???? (we can remove inner door panels)

I got my 2door down to 2700#s without lead but it isn't much more than the very outer skin. You will probably be a little nose heavy but they work real well once you figure them out.

The 4 door and the 2 door are both the same wheel base, so really the only difference is the doors. I would think they would weigh pretty close to the same. One thing you might consider would be how far back you can move your seat if your track has a rule on how far back it can be moved. The back edge of the factory door on a 2 door is further back than on a 4 door, so you would look more natural sitting further back in a 2 door.

wow, what makes these things so freekin heavy?

I know there is a couple of mid 80's impala's or caprice's out there racing and they are pretty fast actually. Would these Crown Vics compair to those more then a metric?

Last year mine was an '86. Didn't Skin the doors or anything. Only removed the interior and engine compartment stuff I didn't need. One single loop for a roll bar and no weight added. Came in at 3840lbs. with drivers (cruiser car). To compensate for nose heavy never gut anything behind the drivers seat. Handles like a dream. Never the fastest but the most drivable car on the track. 10 feature wins and track champ at Boone 2003.

We run a 83 Caprice Classic. With the driver in it, she's about 3450 lbs with 7 gallons of gas. I'd guess around 3200 lbs without driver and gas.
