last night in hot laps car was real fast for 3 laps then it just wouldn't hardly run brought it in and took off cap and and found out the rotor button was bent at the tip changed that and went out for the heat race was running second in heat race when it did it again at end of straightaway turning around 6400-6500 my thought it was the module getting hot and giving out, changed coil, module and wires
got rained out of the main. so i don't know if it's alright, hate to wait a week to see. any thoughts??

jammin, check the end play on the dist. shaft if it is to much it will let the shaft lift up & hit the cap. Also check & make sure there is no side to side play. cd2

A friend of mine had the same thing happen last week,we pulled off the coil cover on the dist.(HEI) and it looked as if one of the coil wires(HOT) was grounding out on the coil body.

We are having a similar problem, the one race we won the heat, and another it ran perfect and came time for the feature it was popping and missing. We had this problem towards the end of last season,so we forgot about it, this spring we borrowed the dist. to a friend, who ran his motor on a dyno and then used it in his car and won features with it in. well, we put it back in and it did it again,Which makes me believe it's not in the dist. so what I've done is changed out the dist hot wire, the main on/off switch and wired the tack to a differant switch, this way if its the tack shorting out it can be turned off. Then we'll know. if you figure yours out please let us know!Good Luck ! checked the endplay last night fifty to 60 thousands didn't seem to much (but don't know what is acceptable) gear looked look wear pattern is centered in gear. looked at old parts from sat. and the coil had a burn mark right at were a wire goes into the coil . hopefully that was the problem. put it back back togther, set the timing and loaded it on the trailor.let's pray for sunshine!!
