I have the opportunity to get a bowtie, cast number 14096242 cheap. Only thing rules state about intake is must be stock. Did this intake come stock on anything or is it strictly over the counter?
Also, believe it or not the rules say nothing like "must be cast iron"--just says stock--is there a good aluminum stock intake that will work well with a Holley 4412?
Track is 1/4 mi, engine is 355 with dbl humps.
Thanks for any help on this.

Bowtie intakes are the best cast intakes I've seen. I don't think they came stock on anything though.

the bowtie intakes came on marine engines depending what your tracks definition of came stock is they are a gm part with casting numbers infact some of the medium duty trucks came stock with a tall intake like the bowtie so maybe you can pass it off

Some GM stock 305's come with an aluminum intake that will work well with a 4412. Just need an adapter plate, preferabley the wood slider plate. Intake will bolt on to your heads.

Any idea about casting numbers for the 305 alum intake with the "old" chevy bolt pattern? Any idea what yr/models they came on?
Good point about the definition of stock! If I thought about it long enough, I could probably convince myself that stock marine = stock car, but that will only make ME feel better about it--not the tech guy!

"Must be stock in every aspect".

Bowtie cast iron intakes are/were only availavle on marine engines or as an "over the counter" part. There are some very nice aluminum intakes that did come stock on the Z 3 Camaro. They are visually identical to the Edelbrock 2101 other than the Bowtie, firing rder, and casting numbers. You can probably find one on ebay for less that $100.
Before you purchase the ....242 Bowtie, give your tech inspector a call. It may be cheap now, but will it be worth giving up a win and being labled as a cheater?
