Depending on your track size may the cam is just coming up short. Are you running an auto or manual. How big is the track? Whats your cam? How heavy is Your car?

if your motor can handle more rpm then its really easy, add more gear.gear multiply's horse power.

You want more torque change your intake and put in a matching cam if legal in your divition if you cant run a edelbrock intake get a old corvete intake .But if your not running atleast a 587 rear gear you will blow your motor for all you will do is spin you wheel on the track

We run on 1/4 mile tracks.Running a 7.04 final gear with 3sp.
Per rules we have to run stock intake with Rochester carb, jets are #63.
We're running Z-28 valve springs & have biggest intake made.
Our cam shows 2500-6000 rpm band.
thanks for trying to help

The springs are new, thats how we got 5500 out of her.Would only turn 5000 last year & before spring change.Jets are holley jets, running 32 degrees timing running straight gas.
We have changed carbs, dist.springs, intakes, cams& manifolds with barely any effects.Driving us nuts[IMG]http://www.thedirtforum.com/ubb/smilie
s/cwm44.gif[/IMG] Will try bigger jets. thanks

Are you still running a stock or stock replacement ignition module? If so get an Accel module this may be your problem the old stock parts dont allow enough saturation to get the RPM up very much above 5500 but have seen a few up around 6500 I sure hope this helps. We used to run a 6.90 on a 1/4 and could easily turn 7000.
