I have seen most all the scale companies have a set of budget scales less than 1k.

Look in the tool box, you'll find plans for a set that uses bathroom scales. ...loojack

i bought a set of A arm scales, like the ones you can make in the toolbox, about 3 years ago for about $200. they still work fine.
I'm about within one percent +- from what i weigh with the track's electronic scales.

bathroom scales sell for around $5, as you will occasionally need to replace them as you bend them and mess them up usings the A arms.

My boss told me we couldn't use the bathroom scale. So he told me to bring our car up there and set it on his electronic scales.
We brought the car home and put it on the bathroom scale. It was showing us about 20 lbs heavier than the electronic scales.
I did notice that the bathroom scales will get heavier the longer you have the car on them. So if doing alot of set up its good to take the car off then back on the scales for final checks. Or maybe dont buy 5 dollar bathroom scales. Buy the 20 dollar ones. LOL
