my carb is working as good as I can make it!

its a stock quad jet G/M
but I think it can give me more!!!!

you guys /gals rebuild them yourselves or send them out ??
If I take on this task are there any pointers ya`ll can pass on ???????

like - can I open the jets more even if it requires a re-tap

I can probably handle the task but I havent rebuilt 1 in 15/20 yrs and then it was a mono jet easy job on that 1

but I WANT/NEED a super duper gas gulper

I'm running one of KP's q-jets(kinetic performance) i got from ELJOJO,it's about as close to a holley as you can get,it looks like he did some work that required drilling into the top plate and then plugging it so i think you better leave the real in depth stuff to guys like him,the needle and seat and jet replacements are not too hard...just keep in mind these are very finiky carbs.

here is a good place to get parts, http://www.carbs.net

get the large needle and seat;
up your primary jet size;
change primary metering rods to be .030
less in size than primary jets;
cut down insert in the primary fuel well
to allow more area for fuel;
reset float level;
change power pistion spring to match your
intake vaccum signal;
change secondary metering rods and it's
plastic cam between the butterflies;
set your primary and secondary throttle
plates to fully open, 180 dgs.
rough up front side of secondary butterflies
to help atomize fuel mixture;
reset tension spring that controls opening
of secondary butterflies and hook up vaccum diafram so secondaries don't slam shut after
opening;
reset plunger level height to get more of
a squirt;

this is a good start ...

I'm running a Motorcraft I got back from Kinetic Performance. I really believe in patronizing the sponsors and advice givers. Whether here or on the street. Good job KP!! I ran the carb before and after and can tell a HUGE difference. I made sure to keep everything the same until I tried my "new" carb so I could tell how much gain there was. Thanks again KP!
