Can anybody tell me what the difference is in the color configurations of the two wire leads of the HEI coil? The two choices I have found are red & white, and red & yellow. Are they interchangable? I've never paid attention to the colors when I've swapped coils before and never seemed to have had a problem.

The red & yellow is what most every Chevy was designed for. The red & white was like Cadillac , Pontiac and Olds or sumthing like that, at least that's what the Accel tech said.
I'd gotten an Accel SBC distributor that was DOA. Took it apart and it had a red & white coil. Called Accel and they said send it back, the Chevy module wouldn't work right with the other coil. That's my only first hand experience with the red & white.. every SBC I've had is red & yellow.
