Were required to run a stock 2 barrel intake and a stock 2 barrel carb, unless the vehicle was offered with a motor that a 2 barrel intake was not available for then you can run a 4 barrel intake and a 4 barrel carb with the back 2 barrels either blocked off with freez plugs or tied so the second 2 barrels don't work.

my question is was the oldsmobile 400 offered in a 2 barrel and second is their a performance advantage to running the 4 barrel with the back 2 barrels zip-tied so they don't operate. the winner this week is running the 4 barrel and the track said there is no performance advantage just looking for your opinions. thanks

are you sure it's a 400 olds and not a 403 or it could be a 400 pontiac. A 403 will have the displacement cast into the block right above the motor mount. I belive a 400 olds came factory with one. 400 olds is a bigblock so any off of 400, 425 or 455 olds will fit. 403 is a sb so any off of 330 or 350 will fit. I have a 2bbl intake that will fit a 403 but It never came stock with one.

I would think it's a disadvantage to run a 4bbl with the back butter fly's wired shut. The primaries on a 4bbl are smaller then a 2bbl.

I was told today it is a 403. So are you saying they the oldsmobile 403 was never offered with a 2 barrel even though their is a stock one that will fit?

exactly. The intake from a 330 or a 350 will fit and they came factory with a 2bbl or 4bbl. The 403 was never offered with a 2bbl.

And bigdaddy's right the 2bbl will be alot more responsive than a 4bbl that is handicapped
