I am new to Enduro racing. I would like to know if a 73 El Dorado Caddy will hold up to a 100 lap race and what tricks need to be done to accomplish this. It has the 501 monster with the front wheel drive. The car is mechanically sound now.

Thanks, That thing has a radiator that looks like it should cool a new diesel. We are going through the radiator. Have any of you guys hooked the heater hoses up to alternate cooling source. I have also been told to overfill the oil by 2 quarts.

I bet you will have a hard time keeping wheels on that tank.. cars that big tend to pull the center out of stock wheels.

There are 3 people in my area that do pretty well with the front wheel drive cadillacs. They seem to stick to the track a little better than the rest. I do not know their tricks if any.
I ran a 72 eldorado with a 472 motor many years ago, overheated and welded one of the rings to the cylinder, freed it up, installed new head gaskets, ran the next week on 6 1/2 cylinders (one had 0 PSI the other had 30 PSI compression)and took 11th. One of the toughest motors I ever had...GOOD LUCK!

I got a 425. If I don't ran at least 2 quarts over it will not drain fast enough and you will drop oil preasure.
