Is there any advantage to running one size flexplate vs. the other (153 or 168) on a SBC 350? I had heard that the 153 cranks the motor over faster.

A larger flex plate is slightly eaiser on the starter. But on a dyno it will show a slight HP loss. If ground clearance permitts it run the larger flex plate.

less rotating weight and less front end weight the starter for a 153 is smaller and weighs lessh ypou can also run a smaller converter with the 153 which is more weight taken off. you can get a hi torque starter and that will do just fine try a 96 vortec truck should get you the parts you want
