Has anyone found a solution to keep from splitting/ cracking the cases on the cast iron 3-speeds. I don't run a mid-plate, I have solid mounts on the front, and a single stud on the tail shaft to allow for a little movement (to keep from binding up). I have a hobby stock and it would be tight trying to put in a rear motor support, but I would go to the trouble if it would solve the problem.

I use the stock motor mounts and tranny mount in my car and have took a few good hits and have never cracked one yet. If you solid mount your motor at least use the stock tranny mount encase. Eddie

If you mount the tranny solid at the stock transmission mount location in the back you are asking for nothing but trouble. With the twist up front without a motorplate you'll just crack the cases all day long. Look at the crack closely and I'll almost guarantee it's related to motor twist and frame bind. If you want to protect your box USE A RUBBER.

running a saginaw in 2nd is hard on it, if youve got a 9" rear end go with a lower gear ratio and run it in high, itll free up some horses too
