i got a friend that has a stock 350 chev
he just getting into raceing but we ran the
car last night it run really good untill u get up around 4500rpm then it brakeing up we got a new carb and intake and steel doing it
the timeing is set on 34 and we cant it over 4500 now when we are at home it will hit over but on the track it only 4500rmp

you will need a performance ign modual and that shuld tale care of your problem

I'd put a new pick-up coil in it too. It's under the rotor button and weights. You'll have to pull the shaft out of the distributor to replace it. We run stock everything, but its new and turn 6000 RPM no problem. I know a performance ignition module would help also.

all good answers.....then there's also the issue that stock valve springs aren't going to handle high rpms. It could very well be both a combination of the ignition system limits and valvetrain float.

Fix it before you drop valves.
