Run an 87 Buick Regal. Last year the 85 Regal handled great. Used everything off the 85' put it on the 87'. Pushes getting in, though the center, not as bad coming off but still a push. Running 1 1/2" stagger in front. No stagger in rear. Have 280 lbs of ballast in the trunk. With the weight in the trunk we are a rocket coming out of the turns. Getting through them kills us. Run stock springs other that the right front which is a 3/4 ton truck spring that has been cut so the ride hight is the same as the left side. What can I do to make this thing turn better? 3/8 mile med banked clay track.

I would recommend trying a little stagger in the rear. Also, how much did you cut off of the right front spring. You may have made it too stiff. Just a thought.

I'm not sure. One of my fellow racers donated it to me. It came off his metric Monte. He had won several races then moved up in class. The car sets level in the front the way it is cut.

First off the right front spring is too stiff. There is your push!! The car it came off of was probably not effected much by it because the driver could basically run any front spring rates. If your on the gas to turn the car front spring doesn't matter as much. That's where percentages start lying to you is when spring rates are messed up.

We are going to change the rear stagger tonight. Hopefully that will get us through this race. What diameter and height front springs do I need? 11" tall x 5" diameter or the 13" tall x 5" diameter. Will the 5" diameter fit in the stock buckets????? We have no ride height rule.

Did you take the bumpers off the aframes? If your spring compress too far it will hit the bumper and the right front becomes solid.

The A-frame bumpers are still there. I do not think they are hitting. I'll remove them.

if you want more cross, you need to space the right rear or pull the left rear in. in puts more weight on that corner and out puts less.

cross will tighten it worse.

if it drives of the corner well with no rear stagger, then leave it, and get rid of some of your front stagger to get the lf tire to support more of the wt on entry and thru the middle.

this will remove some cross, next I would soften the rf or stiffen the lf to get a more balanced car.

if your on the brakes at entry that also could cause a good push until you let of off them if you have too much rf, or front all together.

Adding cross will LOOSEN on entry and tighten on exit. That said you may need to add cross AND rear stagger. Cross to loosen the car getting in and the stagger in the rear will help exit.

Sounds like too much front spring split to me. If you have to run stock springs and don't want to buy the racing springs you might try a cut down 1/2 ton truck spring on the left front.

I.m with suprwitch put a larger tire 1" or so on RR see if that doesn't help if anything on the RF spring I'd say itmight be bottoming out but prob isn't stiff enough JMO

Friday night we ran 2" front stagger and 1" rear stagger. We were good going in the corners but tight in the middle. Came out of the corners ok. I have 280 lb of weight bolted in the trunk, about 60% left and 40% right. I am going to take 120 lbs out to see if that loosens me in the center. I may have to take some of the stagger back out if I am too loose. All the weight in the trunk seemed to give me tremendous forward bite. Maybe to much bite is making me push in the center????? My car has to weigh 3400 lbs. I weight about 3600 with all that weight in the rear. I couldn't get the rear %'s over 48% without the weight. Now I'm slightly over 50% rear. I'm fast but still tight. I'll never win one unless I get the car to handle in the turns.

Can you run wheel spacers or different offsets? It probably wouldn't hurt to kick out that right rear an inch or so.

OK, The problem may be solved. We took 140 lbs out of the trunk. 70 lbs from each side.
We took out the rear stagger and ran 80" roll on the rear. We had 2" front stagger. The car was hooked up. Finally after 2 years we got our first win. Man, was it ever sweet. Thanks for everyones input.
