I was wondering if anyoine ever made there own shifter/linkage? how did u do it? was it easy?? Its for a automatic tranny and pictures would be helpfull too. Thanks

i HAVE BUILT MYOWN SHIFTER AND LINKAGE I BOUGHT HIEM JOINTS AND LIGHT WEIGHT ALU TUBING TAPED THE ENDS SCREWED THE HIEM JOINTS IN AND ATTACH

THE SHIFTER WAS A PIECE OF FLAT STOCK ALU AND BENT IT SO I COULD GET BOTH OF THEM IN AS FOR I USE A 3 SPEED HOPE THIS HELPS

Having lost races because my store bought shifter couldn't take the vibration, I have mad my own linkage since.


Use some 1" wide 3/16" think flat stock and put a bend at the top, just for grip. You can use a piece of angle iron for a mount. Cut a slot through the floor panel and extend the flat stock down until it is near the level of the arm on the trans.

If using a three speed, you simply use to levers, with a spacer between.

just a few more questions before i have at this.How are you guys mounting the shifter handle in the car? Also do you guys have a way to lock the shifter in gear so it dosnt move due to vibrations or bumps? Thanks

doesnt have to be all thread, i just used a piece of 5/16" round steel.

we use one of the x bars off the core support
it works realy good just bend then bolt to trans.

I like to find a car with a floor shifter and use it, less chance of it jumping out of gear or getting knocked out.
