Alright guys I need some help. Our Bomber class can now run headers or manifolds...you must run a muffler with the headers. Are the headers worth the cost and pain to gain some horsepower or not,,,or should i just keep the manifolds and no mufflers??? has anybody done this and how much power did you gain or lose??

what kind of intake and carb if your restricted here you really need to spend the extra on headers if you can run decent intake and race mufflers for the headers do it..

run the headers. on a stock type engine, the mufflers will actually help the car get off the corner better as long as they're not too restrictive.

also, if you're allowed, run an "X" pipe before the mufflers.

Headers are the cheapest hp you will ever buy. Why do you think Brezinski gets hundreds of $ for exhaust manifolds that he's worked over?

if anybody is interested - i have a set of Brezinski ram horns i'd like to sell. they are in great shape. will sell cheap - make offer. they are now letting us run headers so i'll have no use for them. i havent noticed any difference since the change. its hard to tell which is better when your spinning tires.

With a stock or near stock 350, 1 5/8 or even 1 1/2 inch tube headers with a 2 1/2 inch collector. Engine HP dictates the small tube diameter, 36 inches long should tune them for 6000 rpm. Put 24 inch long 2 1/2 inch collector extension on then swedge up to a 3 or 3 1/2 inch LOW RESTRICTION muffler and hold on. A correctly sized header and collector is like supercharging on the exhaust side.

I got some used Schoenfeld 185's---1 5/8 with a 3 inch collector. I was going to run the Imca 609's at the end of some 2 or 3 ft pipes with a X or h pipe in the middle.
What do yall think??

I think chop the 3 inch collectors off and weld on a 2 1/2 inch collector.

I've heard Schoenfeld are a tuff install. Run the headers with small runners and collector size pipe the rest of the way. Also run a 18" pipe after mufflers.
