Does anyone know what weight stock rear metric springs are????? 300,200,175??
I have an 87 Buick Regal. Will softer rear springs transfer more weight to the rear under acceleration and give better bite?
My car must weigh 3400 lbs.

I checked the stock rears we took off of our metric hobby on a spring checker, they checked out at 100# both sides.

I was thinking softer is better on the rear as long as you keep the handle on the car.

How tall of spring do you all run? 11" 12" or a 13" in the metric rears??

trynmods, last year I started with the 13" tall springs because are rules don't allow weight jacks. When the front end was set with the lower control arms approximately parallel to the ground the rear frame height was 2 1/2" higher than the front. I ran the car this way for two or three races and then decided to lower the rear. I bought the 10 1/2" tall springs and used spacers to set the rear about 1" higher than the front and the car seemed to have better forward bite.

We tried to run 11" springs with 175# and 150#, and they collapsed. So we went to the 13" and have had no problem. We are getting about 52% rear weight too, on a 3200 lbs. racecar.

dan 63 are you running a metric? i cant see how front arms and steering would be level with a thirteen inch spring i run 11 all the way around in a 3100 lb car and front is level for the most part.

Yes, my car is a metric. My front springs are 11" tall and this makes the lower control arms about level. The 13" tall rear springs made the rear frame height about 2 1/2" higher than the front so I switched to the 10 1/2" tall rear springs. Trynmods question was in reguards to rear springs.
