Whats the strangest combo you have put together? This is for fun.I have not been in it long enough to have built to many but have a few take out parts I may put together to see what the difference would be.Flat tops with dish pistons .100 dome with flat tops? What might it have been?

my first motor was a 355 that my uncle gave me. for my first car. it had pistons out of 3 different motors, balanced it ourselves and a .500 lift cam, stock rods, stock crank. turned it around mid 7's all season and blew it up when it overheated one time. but it was my second best motor i ever have had, never had a problem except the radiator. great motor. i dont know why i keep buying new stuff and just dont go look in a junk yard for old parts again.

way back in 1987, myself and one of my friends\driver at that time, had just blown the motor on our IMCA mod on a Sunday nite and we were racing 3-4 times a week then, so on Monday nite we burnt the midnite oil and threw together a seven flatops and one domed piston 351w out of the remaining junk that was laying around the shop. (things were a bit different back then lol) and we went racin' on Tuesday nite up at Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids Iowa, it was dirt then, and to our own amazement, we won the biggest race of the year there, The Coors 50, as it was called. still cant believe that engine lasted threw that, as the driver said it had a pretty healthy vibration. The driver was a then very young, Dan Chapman from here in town. He has since risen to one of the best mod drivers in the country..........ford5

I've built some pretty weird engines in the past. Not many piece-part motors, but things that others wouldn't bother with.

I think the best is the Ford 3.8 V6 in my T-bird SuperCoupe. It's a 90 block that's had 1 cylinder sleeved, 95 rods w/arp bolts (floaters from the factory), windage tray, reground roller cam by Crane inverted flank .552"/.536" lift, custom double roller adjustable t-chain, BBHJ custom steel damper, ported heads with SBC 1.84"/1.56" valves, Wolverine adjustable roller rockers adapated from a 429/460 (now discontinued), midlength headers, $1500 custom welder&ported Eaton M90 blower (M90's are stock on the SC's). There's many other custom, 1 off, adapted from Mustang etc parts on the car. It's kind of scary once I think about all the things that have been done to it.

It runs pretty well. Chassis dyno verified 385 ft-lbs and 305 HP. Corrected to motor numbers, that's 360 HP and 450 ft-lbs. Not bad from a 234 CID V6.

I just wish my racer motor made the same power per CID. It would be great having a 355 that made 850 ft-lbs of torque!!!
