First this forum is excellent!! Now to the question. If I setup the car as suggested on this forumand the car does not handle like I think it should where is the first place to look? Springs? Shocks? Wheel offset? I can start with the baseline setup but then what? This is my first year racing a car that you are able to "setup" a car. Thanks.

are you meaningt to adjust the car. well first i go with springs if the car is off.
then next is lr bite that i would play with. also stagger will help at the track.
but the first thing we change is springs or shocks.

yeah springs and shocks are not easy to change on a street stock. my mod we can change them faster than tire sizes.

also spring rubbers are great. we use them all the time. so get some of those.
when i had a street stock we would play with the lr offset to get the car right(on any given night) but i would do spring rubbers first.

What exactly do spring rubbers do. Do they make the spring act like a heavier spring or what. Also you are correct on the shocks I have to use stock mount only.

with stock mount shocks you dont want to be changing them.
spring rubbers go inbetween the coils and deaden those coils(always put in the middle area of the spring) they will increase the spring rate.
example is a spring rubber in a 13 inch 200 pound spring, the with one spring rubber it will become a 260 pound spring
this is for covential springs. but gives you an example. also 2 rubbers would give you a 310 pound spring.

The rules don't say anything about rubbers. Which I guess means you can run them. Thanks for all your suggestions. I love this forum.

some springs require special thick or thin spacers so check that and maybe get one of each. also it is not recomemded you use 2 spring rubbers on 11 tall conventional springs. it will cause to much bind.

What kind of car do you have and how much does it weigh race ready with driver? What springs and percentages do you have? Explain what the car is doing going in ,around and off the corner.Think about this really good and try too remember what is happening at each part of the corner. What do you have for stagger and what size track ,banking and wet or dry. cd2

when you get to the track and the car will not work then answer 3 questions first.
what is happening?
where is it happening?
when is it happening?
good example : "push on exit as i get on the gas"
bad example: push exit.

also dont confuse a loose exit with a tight entry.
remember you trip on entrance and fall on exit so always go to the start of the corner to fix problems.(make sure that is correct)
