what is unsprung weight.where can i buy shocks like this to mount on my metric chasis. are they any better than racing shocks

There are two "types" of weight concerns on a race car. The first is SPRUNG WEIGHT which is anything "held up by the springs". Examples would be body, frame, engine, rollcage, driver, etc. The second is UNSPRUNG WEIGHT. This would be wheels and tires, spindles, brakes, etc. Reducing unsprung weight helps the suspension react quicker and smoother to the track surface. I hope this helps.
