hey guys i need some advise! I bought a prevoiusly raced 79 cutlass that has a welded rear, stock ratio i am sure. I will race 3/8 and 1/4 mile tracks, what size wheels and tires would be best to start with and what offset. the only car i have ever helped with was a modified. thanks

get a set of bart economy wheels they run about 30$ a wheel built to order, with a 3 inch backspace and a set of road hugger radials made by kelly. you can get em from discount tire and if there isnt one around you call discount tire direct the once their mounted put a ton of wd40 in a cup brush it on the tire and wrap it in tin foil and bake it in the sun for 45 min it will soften the compund,,, go to www.tires.com its discounts web page.

thats what i run when the tracks slick i go to a 4 in offset when the track is wet i go to a 2 when you move the tire out it will loosen the car up moving it in will make it tighter.

YOU CAN RUN YOUR 3'S ALL AROUND AND ADD A SPACER ON THE LEFT OR RIGHT REAR TO PUSH YOUR WHEEL OUT. JUST RUN LONGER STUDS. I DONT THINK A 4" WILL WORK ON A METRIC IT SCRUBS IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN. I MIGHT BE WRONG.

COPPER THE NOPA RULES CHANGED YESTERDAY I WAS AT THE MEETING AND THE MAX TIRE WIDTH IS 7 1/2 INCHES, AND YOU CAN STILL RUN THE AMERICAN RACER WHICH I RECOMMEND.
