Do any of you run an Outlaw Cruiser? Our track started cruisers as a stock class, but now it is almost an open class. Is there anyone else out there like that?

Ours is supposed to be stock.....but it seems that stock means whatever Summit Racing has in stock. We race at two different tracks and the cars keep getting faster every year. End of last season we decided to follow suit and put a 351W Stoker in our car, won a few races and no one ever even asked about the engine @ tech.....??? If you can't beat em, join em. The only scary part is that most cruisers aren't built with safety in mind, and now that we're running as fast as some of the factory stocks with no yellow flags, someone is bound to get seriously hurt.

This is the same thing we did. We have one of the safest cars out there though. We cut the door panels out and put the roll bars in the cavity. We have cars out there running 80 to 85 MPH. This is fine for the safe cars but not for the others. There are cars out there that have metal fence posts for the roll cage!!! This happens even in the fast cars. This open class is fine but there needs to be rules on safty.

i agree with the ideas on saftey, i know i've even been guilty of not having a safe car. i don't know how ur guy's track enforces saftey rules, ours our pretty strict. which is good, seems like that is what the officials look at in tech than anything else. john what size is ur track, thats seems pretty fast, thats what our super stock are running about. good luck

We are running on a 3/8th mile track with mild banking. That is what most of our super stocks are running also. People have been taking motors out of Pro Stock cars for a week just so they can say they won the cruiser class. It is gettin out of hand.

Do you guys have a claim on the cars? Our is $350. That prevents a lot of beefing up cars because the fast ones get snapped up pretty fast. Safety is not the number one concern at our track either. Only a loop for a roll bar. No door bars or kickers are allowed. The fastest we ever got going was around 70mph or so and that was on a 1/2 mile track with only 7 plugs connected. We don't have any yellow flags either but they do throw the black one and red when needed.

We had a claim until this year....??? Now the cars will probably be running @ factory stock speeds. Another track we run at has a $400.00 claim, but the only cars eligble are the ones that finish in the top 4 two weeks in a row, which seesm to work out well, but most people won't sell. I'd complain about the door bars, it doesn't make a difference in performance but sure can save a body in the case of a crash @ 70mph. Our door bars have save the gas man many times. We had a car come through our right side that ended up on top of the car and if weren't for the door bars I hate to think of the result.

We have complained. To no avail. Also we run a 5 point harness (not required) that really helps. I do the gassing and we offset the harness to keep me off the door a long ways. Also have an oh sh** handle. We did hit the wall at speed. Not a scratch on either of us, but the car needed some welding and a few parts... That's racin'

We just got the rules for cruisers this year and the new owner wants to run two classes of cruisers. One will be stock and one will be an open class. The open class will only be checked for safty. We need a 5 point harness, window nets, and a racing seat. Last year there was a $750 claim but there isn't a claim this year. No one ever used the claim last year though because most everyone had a lot of money in their cars.

Our class changed to racing seats,4412 carb, and they ran clockwise or counterclockwise according to a coin flip while rolling out on the track to prevent any set - up, and flagged normally but allowed more contact
