I was told that my back 4 barrel flap was to tight( had to much tension) HOw do you make it looser or how tight or loose should it be.I GUESS IT WOULD HELP TO TELL YALL ITS A QUADRAJET.

On the passenger's side of the shaft on the rear air flaps, there is a set screw going up from the underside. look closely at that side and you'll see a small flat head screw which actually is the end of the shaft that the spring is wound around. stick a small flathead screwdriver there and hold it steady while you use a small allen wrench to loosen the set screw that holds that shaft from turning. loosen it 1/8 to 1/4 turn at a time until the air flaps open quick enough for your needs but not that they're so loose that they bounce back shut after slamming open, or that the air flaps "flutter" at idle from vibration.
It's one of the adjustments on quads that needs a fair amount of TLC as compared to other areas on the carb.
