I'm currently running a UMP Modified, but my cousin is building a pure stock for next season. I told him I would help with setup, but I know nothing of these cars. Any help on a baseline setup would be greatly appreciated. What are some reasonable numbers on the scales? I know we won't get 60% like the mod, but how much can you get out of a pure stock? What range does the air pressure run in the radial tires? Plus anything else I forgot. Thanks guys.

Sorry, it's a 80's model pontiac grand-prix. I don't know the weight yet. I haven't gotten on the scales.

ssr, we also run a metric with 900-1150-250-200 springs and have experimented quite a bit with air pressures. Car hooked up pretty well and handled good with LF 14
RF22 LR20-22 RR18-20 running tubes all around. Problem we had was with RF & RR. RF would sometimes peel the belt loose and the RR would almost always tear chunks the size of silver dollars out of the tread from center to Rt side of tire. And it would do this all in 1 nite. Less than 20 laps on 3/8 track. If we went less than 16 on RR the rim would spin in tire and pull valve stem. Always ran new tires. The new rubber would hook up better. This happened with the Firehawks SS 10 and 20s. tried a pair of high priced GY Eagles and they didn't last 1 night before they started chunking out. Some nights we tore the tread completly off. I started staying up to about 24=26 on RR and thought it helped. Anyone else having trouble with tread chunking out?

yes i know what there called and alot are still basic street stocks like my car and theres not much diffrent between a pure stock and a street stock the set up is about the same and i think my dads got a good idea on a set up with his 20 yrs driving with over 200 wins he even one the 1st $1000. to win Street Stock race a gasport. and lead most of the second one till he had problems with a wheel spacer witch caused the wheel to come off.
