Has anyone ran an in car camera. I am building my first car and would like to run a camera(until they decide that it is a computerized recording device and dq me for it). Was wondering if anyone has done this and what they used. Did it once in my brothers mod with a sony hi-8 in and old ammo box, but was hard to mount and bulky. Does anyone have any experience with the specific in car systems. Race cam solutions looks to be a good product but too spendy for me. Catch-it is more affordable, but not sure on the quality.

I ran a camera in my car a few races. I purchased a cheap VHS camera on E-Bay and a remote camera (no sound) from a surplus house. I secured the camera to the floor in it case and connected the remote camera to the cage at eye level. I used a power inverter to run the whole mess. This year I purchased a transmitter (again ebay) and another remote camera (with sound) so i could delete the in car VHS cam. I didn't get to run it but it seems like it will work. Remeber, in a crash, forces are very great so every thing must be secured VERY WELL. Don't use bungie cords.
