what springs do you suggest for a big monte pure stock. we cannot cut anything out or add lead. well be running a pontiac 400 which is a little heavier than a chevy 350. all 4 tires have to be the same size, must have an "unlocked" rearend. track is a 1/3 mile med/high bank. also what length springs front and rear beacause i have no expirience with these metrics.
i was thinking 1100/1200 up front and 200/175 in the rear. softer rear springs will help since we wont have much rear weight right?

Been running those big ole heavy Monte Carlos for sometime and with the small block Chevy and Turbo 350, the spring setups were 1000lf,1200rr,225lr and 200rr. We ran that Turbo 350 in 2nd gear with 4:10s in the rear end on the 1/3 mile.

The other members of the race shop with their big Montes ran different combos. The kid who ran the big block ran for spring combos 1100lf,1300rf,225lr and 200rr. Now in this car for the 1/3 mile he ran the Turbo 350 in 2nd gear with 3:90s in the rear making good corner speed.

The other combo we ran for a while and made killer poweroff the corner was a small block with a powerglide in low running 3:73 gears. Springs in that car were 1000lf,1100rf,and flat across the back with 200's.

we were trying to decide which would be the better way to go. capice or monte carlo. we decided to go with the monte cause we got a car for free.
you dont think 225/200 is too stiff in the rear? thats what i run in my nova its 3500 with 53% rear weight.i figure the pure stock might be around47% rear weight.
depending on the gears in the car we are going to run a turbo 350 or 400 with 2.56 or 2.73.
with the open diff would i need a higher gear than with a locked rearend? i run a 7.08 final with my hobby and a lockedrearend (91 inch tires)

i run 250/200 on my metric and it weights 2800. for the tranny go with the 350 the 400 is more for pulling and it's alot heavier and you could run the same gear
