After several weeks of running warm 220-240+ I called Stewart compoments and they told me the same thing that is in their tech articles. So on their advice. The ONLY things I did was remove the restrictor and speed the water pump up from 25% under to 1-1 ratio. My temp went to 180 sometimes it pays to listen too the experts instead of the guy in the pit next to you!

I run part anti-freeze, 25% reduction, 180 thermostat, and a high flow pump, and have to tape the grill to get to 185 deg.Haven't had a bit of cooling problems with this set up.I remove and clean the radiator after every race and have good duct work on both sides of the radiator.Even though every thing I'm doing is wrong according to the experts it works for me .

dirtracer,
That is setup I used to have also with no problem, until this years motor combo. I Just wanted to tell people what works if you have a heating problem. Now if a guy comes up and says he is running hot and asks you what he should do and he has the same setup as yours what do you tell him?

Guys there are just to many variables that come in to play here Ive worked with people on here trying to cure cooling problems and Ive finally narrowed my suggestions down to the ones that cant fail....very good shroud..aluminum parts and so on.....its lookin like a process of alimination now....Towman

distilled water in the radiator only will usually drop you 15-20 degrees.

no matter what you have for a system.

antifreeze lowers the boiling pt.

try it, many have on here and it has worked every time.

These are all good suggestions. I was just so ecstatic having solved my cooling problem that I had to go "tell it on the mountain" And The two things I did go against most "pit wisdom" how many guys do you know that don't run a restrictor and almost every race car I have seen underdrives the water pump. I already had the basics covered new rad, good shroud, steel fan, stewart pump, timing, water and water pump lube only, etc.
