Hey I am very interested in gettin into dirt track racing. Ive been doin alot of talking with the local racers around my country (North Dakota) but it sounds like racing is much more serious south of us. So i was just wonderin what would you all recommend as a starter car for this class. I have been looking at building a car from an early 80's cutlass chassis, but was told this past weekend that you can pretty much buy a car cheaper than you can build a car, so should a person still look for a metric like that or go for like an old monte and help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Definately if this is your first car and don't have a ton of help, you should buy a complete car first. Try to have someone come with you to check out a car that you are interested in to make sure it is safe. I know from experience that it can take a long time and a lot of money to build a new car, especially if you have to buy all the race and set-up stuff new. For starting out it would probably be a good idea to get a car that is common at the track you will run at so it will be easier to get help setting the car up.
