Iam changing gears in a GM 10 bolt. I am changing the carrier and everything. How long does this usually take and how difficult is this. This will be our first gear change so walk me through the tough stuff and any gear setup tips would be appriciated.
Thanks,
Kory

A recent Circle track article covered changing gears really well, however it was about a 9 inch. But I would think most of the principles will still apply. Sleepy Gomez would have some ideas about this too I bet, (if he sees this) It will take you about 10 to 12 hours if you clean everything such as housing and all that. 10 bolts are harder than a 9 inch but can be done.

Depending on what gear you're putting in, you might need a different carrier or a spacer. We learned this when going from a 2.41 to a 3.23. We were able to use the carrier that came with the car, but needed a spacer on the ring gear.
