I am currently running Pure Stock 1/4 mile high banked track. I have an 87 MonteCarlo with 2.42 gears. Should I be runnning a tire stagger in front/rear?

in my car, which is a 75 cutlass. I am running a 255 70 15 in the rf, in the rr I am running a 235 70 15, the lf is a 205 70 15, and lr is a 225 70 15. I found this is good for my car, it is probably 500 or so pounds more than yours. There are other ways to get rid of the push, i found anyways thru experimentation. Depending on your rules, change the rf spring to a 1100# spring. Or, first if you can run a sway bar, run a 1" sway, and preload the rf spring, so the car cannot roll on the rf. (Preload means if you donot know, make the rf swaybarlink longer. Mine is about 3" longer than the left.) I also made my sleeves out of schedule 80 half " pipe, because i was crushing the rf sleeve. Play with tire pressures also, I'm at rf 28 # rr 16# lf 22# lr 15.5# we are also running tubes. Hope that this helps you some.. Good luck

You probably want around:
50-52% Left
48-52% Cross
56-60% Rear
Once you get near those you may need to scale again after some races and adjust to your taste and driving. You will need weight to make some of the percentages correct.

I'm using a T350 trans. I was told by another
racer to try useing 205/70/15 in the rear to make up for the 2.42 ratio. I'm taching out at about 5200-5300. I dont want to go anymore than 5800-5900. My car wieght is 3460lbs. but I only need to be 3200#. If I were to shed some wieght were should I loose it?

if you are way over weight take it out anywhere you can but it's always best to take as much off the front of the car as you can. running the smaller tires would help rpm wise but handeling wise it would be better getting the proper gear for the tires you are running if you go to small tires on the rear you lose tail % and thats not good. but if you are going to go with the smaller tires i'd go with the same on the front as you have now and or maybe a 215/70/15 rf a 205/70/15 lr and 205/75/15 on the rr will give you about 2 inches of stagger thats where my car is at and works great on heavy or wet for dryslick go with 70/15's straight across the rear
