Ok I have monte carlo with some serious brake problems. Its all stock equipment with stock master cylinder and booster my cam is not that big it has 410 lift but duration is 284 but once I crank the engine my pedal goes to the floor when mashed it will stop but just dont have a pedal. Its pulling over 10 lbs of vacum at idle where i have the brake vacum hooked up on the in take and when the engine revs it climbs up much much higher but sill dont seem to do anything for the pedal. What could it be? I also has lid of the master cylinder andhit brakes and shot fluid stait up so it should be working fine right?

what you could try is put a vacum can on it and that will store any extra vacum so its there when you need it you can find some low buget ones on 75-79 fords look's like a coffe can w/a vacum line comin from it. power brakes should have 14or so pounds to make them work rite

I dont think your problem has anything to do with the brake booster at all.Sounds like the master cylinder is bypassing you didnt say whether your running shoes or discs on the rear,If you dont think the master cyl. is bypassing then try pulling the rear drums and adjusting the shoes up as tight as you can that will help your pedal and if you have rear discs look real hard at the master cyl. or a fluid leak somewhere hope this helps....Towman

I have drums in the rear and I adjusted them so when you turn wheels you hear them scrub a little and My dad looked at all wheel while I mashed the brakes it dont seem like its a busted wheel cylinder cause there is no leaking noted? Is there a test to check master cylinder or could it be in the wheel cylinder I always tought that most wheel cylinders work unless they are busted. If it was vacum I would be able to rev engine and have a good pedal right? Like I say thou I have almost full pedal but soon as it cranks up its gone?

I will put my money on the master cyl. If you dont see any fluid leaks the wheel cyl. should be ok what the master cyl. is doing is bypassing fluid inside.I dont know of any test its really a prosses of alimination and looks like your about to buy a master cyl. they dont cost much and I will bet it takes care of your problem.....Towman
