I know you should wear nomex long johns under your suit.

But what do you wear between the suit and the long handle britches?

Power,

I am going to look real funny with tighty whities on over long underwear. When I need to work on the car, I take my suit off and there I stand in a pair of fruit o the loom?

I will make a name for myself that way. Although I am not sure what it would be.

2 solutions:

1) buy a 2-piece suit
2) tie the arms of your 1-piece behind your back like a jacket

LOL! Just when I thought it couldn't get any better! Do your long unders have a flap and a couple of buttons in the southern end? (You don't HAVE to answer!)

Ok maybe I was not clear in my first question. If I have a two piece or a one piece suit. I need to work on my car. I dont want to crawl around in the dirt with the suit on. I have heard that you treat the suit like you would your Sunday morning best.

I take off the suit and what do I have on?

Jeans?

I would look real funny running around in my nomex long johns.

Thats what pitmen are for!

Really though, I guess I would have a large pair of coveralls handy, that way I can get into and out of them easily and back into the firesuit.

I agree with UFO, my pitcrew does all the work on the car I just drive it when we go to the track. I wear a double layer suit with the nomex undies, Although i have seen drivers who wear a tee shirt and shorts under the suit. Eddie

Thank you,

Redneck. Shorts and t-shirt.

I wish my pit crew was big enough to do all the work and could just set back and take a smoke.

However my pit crew consists of the crew cheif/ head mechanic / car hauler operator / garage owner and operator.

This is one guy.

HEY! That sounds like my pitcrew too! LOL...

I usually wear a pair of soccer shorts and a t-shirt under mine. I know of a lot of guys that wear their jeans too, but I'd think that would be too much for me.

I'm thinking about trying a pair of "compression shorts" that the high-school football players wear. I think they're similar to Lycra biking shorts.

Power,

If I had all my safety stuff, I would get you a pic.

But I am still putting the car together.

Redneck,
I know there will be help there. But what kind of driver would I be if I don't understand what is going on with the car. If I know what changed produce given results, I will be that much better when on the track.

Remember Days of Thunder? Cole Trickle was not all that great until he understood the physics under the car.

Odb I agree with you although my guys dont make any changes on there own, I tell them and write it down where i want my pressures set everything the only thing they do on there own is the mechanical, replacing parts if need be and I get enough of that at home, id be pretty lost without my crewcheif though he is one sharp kid at 21 he knows his poison when it comes to the racer and has alot of great ideas. Every person I have brought into racing or had helping me with my racecar either gets his own car, moves south, or looses interest. So this year I am back at it all alone in the shop and just my wife at the track!

See what I started uh-oh. I do almost all of my work myself also. What I do at the track is change to my jeans and a t-shirt or sweatshirt depending on the weather. then I load the car. Most of the time during the races, I don't have to work on the car and if I do, I will throw on the coveralls. Hope this helps.
