I have heard some people say that a tempo is the best place to look for a auto trans cooler. What part of the car? Heater core?

And talk to me about running trans lines tot he cooler if it is mounted inside the car.

The last does the fluid make it through the circuit? Presure? Need a pump?

If you want something to really cool it off try a ac condenser it will really bring the trans temp down, just run 5/16 hose to the cooler in the car,the trans pump rumps it thru the cooler and it has a built in bypass if is gets clogged.

If you can afford it, put a temp guage on the tranny too. Lots of times, you don't need a cooler and just think you do. I have done this and found my tranny to run at less than 300 degrees.

ufo 300 is a little hot for an automatic 200-220 is about where you want the oil. I would just run a small (flat plate) type cooler. Not in the drivers compartment!

So the general consensus is cooler mounted anywhere there is air, but not in the drivers compartment?

Has anyone picked out a little spot infront of the radiator?

It doesn't need to absolutely be in front of the radiator, some mount it in the core support where the headlights used to be.

40 below makes a trans cooling additive that might help if your not running a cooler on the car. Eddie

i mount mine right to the front of the radiator. i just run 5/16 hose over to it and use a couple of clamps on both ends. i run a cooler just to be on the safe side

Most times the cooler will "radiate"
enough of the heat away without direct air
flow. I have seen them mounted to the rear
firewall with another full size piece of
sheetmetal over it and it worked ok.
Technicially it was not in the drivers compartment because of the extra cover
in front of it. I would think the trunk would
be a good spot also. Be sure to use oil lines
and not fuel hose!

Hi! A tranny cooler does work. Go to Perma Cool on the web they have what you need with instructions. The "bottom" tranny line on the radiator is the return on a 350 Turbo.Hope this helps.
