In a pure stock, and assuming you are on a budget like the rest of us, it beats buying a new battery every season and charging it all the time.

3 seasons, same battery, no alternator. you should be charging the battery every week anyway, even if you do run an alternator.......it's like insurance......you hope it never needs it, but it's good to know it doesn't need it.

by charging the battery every week, you will also notice that dead cell BEFORE you get to the racetrack.

Now i see all of your guys points but how long of a race can you go before you run out of juice? i think this year there is going to be a 60 lap main event. what do you think would be best? Thanks for all the input. BnB

Call me lazy, but for the price of a 1 wire alternator.....it's my "insurance policy"! I guess I got my policy from a different agent than Outlawstock17. LOL

hey pickel? did you fabricate that pulley on the yoke? ive seen a website somewhere that sells a yoke with a pulley on it, but i think that was for a quick change type rear, does anyone sell one for a regular 9" ford rear?

i just don't like the extra weight hanging on the nose or being unsprung on the rearend housing collecting mud.

This debate will gon for ever but for me I'll run an alternator. For all the negitives the positives out weight. I just like an altenator.

no altenator =no tossed belt. 2 6v golf cart batteries in series mounted over the rear axle if I'm going to bolt on lead it might as well be usable .These batteries will run alittle more than a good deep cycle but will outlast them about 4 times. They have a 210 min. reserve @75 amp draw which with my 25 amp draw they sould run about 8 hours on a charge. I still trickle charge after every race.
