Ok, after checking with the local shop,$$$$ I'm going to try and put together my hobby motor. I got a 2 bolt used 350 short block, cked the play between connecting rods, .10 (OK?)
And it has dished pistons, should I run shims head gaskets or what? Going to replace the oil pump and run stock 305 heads. Thanks for the help! This forum is a good place!

I went to a site called google, punched in 305 heads on 350,best 305 head gaskets for 350 and a couple good stories came up. It appears that the Fel Pro #1003 head gasket was the best choice. What you may want to do is pm an engine builder who hits this site every once and a while. He goes by sdhnc29.He may be able to help. As for an oil pump, nothing beats a Melling Hi Volume for what you are doing. Run the stock pan with an extra quart. Hopefully others who have done this head swap can shed some info on which 305 heads to use or not to use.
