does anyone tap and plug the oil bypass on thier sbc? i have an old circle track article and it says that smokey yunik claims that it is a must for a low buck buildup. anyone help me out here?????

I would reccomend a racing type oil filter such as a k&n it is rated at over 100psi burst strength,by the way be easy on the throttle when it's cold the oil pressure could pop even a good filter or it's seal.

Use a very good filter if you plug the bypass. I ruptured a filter internaly, you dont know it till you remove it.

thanks guys. i'm running stock pump and pan and am still unsure if i'm going to plug it.

It can be a catch 22 situation. ie: if you plug your bypass & the filter collapses you get no oil & s*rew your engine (plus theres no comeback on the filter manufacturer if the bypass is blocked off). Then if you leave the bypass as it is you will not filter all of your oil. so, maybe the answer is to run with no oil filter & just change the oil after every night (what does anyone else think of this?).
